Revision Weight Loss Surgery
-
One of the most common complaints that leads to revision weight loss surgery is heartburn - reflux. The symptoms may be caused by many reasons. The heartburn and reflux can be caused by an obstruction, or bile reflux (bile irritating the esophagus and stomach) disguising itself as acid heartburn and reflux. To determine the cause of the symptoms an Upper Endoscopy (scoping of the stomach/esophagus) and UGI is often performed.

Revision Weight Loss Surgery is the repair/modification of a weight loss operation, or the conversion of one weight loss operation to another. Revision surgery is no longer just repairing a weight loss surgery complication. Revision surgery has evolved to include the correction, the modification or conversion of a weight loss operation to another weight loss operation. The goal of revision surgery is to correct complications and to help further patient weight loss goals, and often give a patient a second chance at weight loss.
The most common operations undergoing revision or conversion surgery are the Lap-Band and Sleeve Gastrectomy.
The most common reasons for lap-band revision surgery are heartburn/reflux, and Lap-Band complications.
