Credentialing for vendors and contracted providers
Anyone who comes into MISH to sell, service or operate patient-care equipment, or to provide direct patient care under contract, is credentialed before their first visit. Five steps, one application, and you're approved for the year.
Which one are you?
The application asks you to pick. The two categories carry different training and a different fee, so it's worth reading both first.
Vendor
A non-clinical healthcare industry representative who sells, rents, services or operates patient-care equipment and supplies. Vendors complete the vendor training and pay the $225 application fee.
- Device and implant representatives
- Equipment service and field technicians
- Supply and pharmaceutical representatives
Healthcare provider
A contracted clinician who provides direct patient care at MISH without being employed by the hospital. Providers complete the healthcare provider training. The $225 fee does not apply.
- Respiratory therapists
- Perfusionists
- Neurophysiologic monitoring technologists

Common questions
Do I have to do this before every visit?
No. Credentialing is a one-time application, renewed on the schedule the Medical Staff Office gives you when you're approved. Individual visits are arranged with the department you're supporting.
Does the $225 fee apply to healthcare providers?
No. The application fee applies to vendors only. Contracted clinical providers complete the provider training and the application without a fee.
I'm not sure which category I fall into.
The dividing line is direct patient care. If you provide it — respiratory therapy, perfusion, neuromonitoring — you're a healthcare provider. If you sell, rent, service or operate equipment and supplies without providing care, you're a vendor. If it's still unclear, call the Medical Staff Office at 913-322-7408 before you pay anything.
Can more than one representative from my company register?
Yes. Credentialing is per person, not per company, so each representative who will be on site submits their own application.
The training file won't open on my device.
Both training modules are PowerPoint files. If you can't open one, call the Medical Staff Office at 913-322-7408 and we'll send it in another format.
