    UNITED SERVICES COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY

Family Intake, Assessment & Referral (FIAR)

The purpose of the system is to look at ALL of the potential needs of each family coming in for service – to explore beyond their presented needs and address any underlying problems preventing long-term success.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

    Missouri State LIHEAP Contact:

    573-751-6789

LIHEAP can help you stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer through programs that reduce the risk of health and safety problems that arise from unsafe heating and cooling prac- tices. The program provides federally funded assistance in man- aging costs associated with home energy bills, energy crises, weatherization, and energy-related minor home repairs.

    Missouri Asset Development Project

Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) are special savings ac- counts for low-income people that enable them to attain a “last- ing asset” (e.g. home ownership; micro-enterprise development; post-secondary education). Attainment of these “assets” has proven to enable families to make a permanent move out of poverty. The program provides a 2:1 match for participants; for every $1 a participant saves, MBA will match it with $2 (up to $4,000).

    Supportive Housing

In this program, USCAA encourages self-sufficiency by subsidiz- ing a family’s housing payment for up to 2 years. The amount gradually decreases as the family demonstrates increased capabilities, all while a case manager works one-on-one with the family offering continual support.
